• 1884 - The U.S Government authorized a Post Office at the college
• 1885 - Creation of the Agricultural Experiment Station

• April 21, 1885 - Department of Mechanical Arts established.
• July 1, 1885 - Edwin Willits Elected the College's Fourth President
• 1887 - Publication of the college's first yearbook, "The Harrow."
• 1887 - Wearing green as a school color first recorded
• 1888 - First J-Hop grand ball held
• 1888 - Construction approved for first scientific horticulture laboratory in the United States
• 1889 - Oscar Clute was the first State Agricultural College alumnus to become president of the College
