Dances were a big part of campus life in the early 20th century. At many of the dances, guests were given dance cards as favors. Some dance cards were simple while other were elaborate and reflected the organization that was putting on the dance in the design. Most dance cards were made of paper while others had cloth or metal covers, others used fancy papers or designs. Dance cards usually had a cord attached in a loop to allow it to be worn on the wrist. They also sometimes also had a little pencil attached for writing in the dance cards.
The dance cards often gave information such as the band, dance committee members, and faculty guests along with the spaces for guests to fill in who they would be dancing with. This exhibit hopes to highlight some of the interesting dance cards and as well as campus events.
