After imposing a six dollar per year tax on students, the State Board of Agriculture began the tradition of MSU's performing arts offerings. The original programs were held in the M.A.C. armory, where folding chairs were set up for an audience of 700. Later, a lecture room and laboratory were added to the Chemical Building for further talks.
