A chemical laboratory costing $10,000 was built to Chemical Professor Dr. Robert Kedzie's specifications. He had researched the nine best labs in the country and one in Germany. Ventilation hoods, a modern innovation for the era, were placed over laboratory tables. Following World War II, this yellow brick building served as the university library annex and a lecture hall. It was located on the site of the present library and was razed in 1955 when the new library was built.
