MSU physicist Dr. Henry Blosser designed the world's first medical superconducting cyclotron K100. The tool was built at MSU's National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory and then delivered to Harper Hospital in Detroit. This cyclotron would "provide an efficient, inexpensive method of neutron therapy for the treatment of cancers that resist conventional radiation".
