Title: Creation of the Agricultural Experiment Station

The Agricultural Experiment Station was established by an act of the federal congress and the state legislature. It was to operate as part of the State Agricultural College (MSU).

By 1945, it had grown to approximately 200 staff members and an annual budget of $450,000. Involved in the program were large farm and experimental plots, laboratories and equipment in East Lansing, and several stations located around the state for study of potatoes, turkeys, tree fruits, muck experimental farm, and other projects carried on with the cooperation of farmers on their farms around the state.
