Dr. Lamiyah Bahrainwala is an assistant professor of communication studies and received her Ph.D from University of Texas at Austin, and a MA in Rhetoric from Michigan State University. She is heavily involved in many critical areas of study and focuses on Whiteness, anti-Muslim sentiment, precarity, and feminist surveillance approaches utilizing critical race theory. Lamiyah’s work has appeared in multiple leading journals and has received top paper/research awards from the National Communication Association among others. Bahrainwala was interviewed by Nick Buonanni and Colton Wansitler on July 15, 2020 for the Writing Center at Michigan State University's Oral History Research Project.
