The June 1965 convocation takes place in Spartan Stadium, on the campus of Michigan State University (MSU). The MSU Band, under the direction of Leonard Falcone, performs Elgar's Pomp and Circumstance, and attendees of the graduation ceremony sing America. The invocation is given by The Very Reverend Francis M. Donahue. Earl Warren, Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, gives the commencement address and is given an honorary Doctor of Laws degree. The conferring of honorary degrees continues, and Distinguished Alumni Awards are presented. Candidates for doctoral degrees are presented by Dean Milton Muelder, and granted their respective degrees by MSU President John A. Hannah.
