This image is of Jonathan L. Snyder, for whom Snyder Hall is named. Snyder was President of Michigan State from 1896 to 1915. During his presidency, the school grew from a couple hundred students to 2,000. Snyder worked with the legislature to aid in the growth of Michigan State through the hiring of more faculty members and the construction of additional buildings to accommodate the growing student body. Snyder was also an advocate for the creation of a program designed for women, which would later be known as Home Economics.
