The Eagle was a school newspaper that was run from 1892-1893. It was written by 13 year old William “Roscoe” Kedzie. He was the grandson of Robert C. Kedzie, a Chemistry Professor at M. A. C. The newspaper contains community news, event announcements, snippets of board meetings, student activities, alumni happenings, and editorials from Roscoe. A subscription to The Eagle cost 1 cent per week or 25 cents per 6 months. Advertising was also available for 1 cent per line.
Roscoe discontinued The Eagle when he enrolled in MAC full time. At 18, he graduated with a degree in agriculture with the intent of becoming a farmer. He would later become an ordained minister and only return to farming, in Eaton Rapids Michigan, after his retirement. Additional volumes that we weren't able to digitize may be viewed on-site at MSU Archives and Historical Collections.
