The first part of the recording is of Malcolm X speaking at a January 23, 1963 press conference at the Union Sun Parlor at Michigan State University about the race problem, aims of Black Muslims, the James Meredith case of 1962 and Mississippi, followed by various takes of the interview for an MSU film. In the second part of the recording, Malcolm X speaks at Erickson Kiva on the same day to students and faculty about race problems, the Black Muslim religion and its ideas. The speech is followed by answers to questions from the audience.
