This half-hour color film offers an inside look at Cowles House plus a conversation between Mrs. Dolores Wharton and Erling B. Brauner, MSU art department chairman-emeritus, regarding a showing of faculty paintings.
After a capsule view of some preliminary details involved in a show, Mrs. Wharton and Professor Brauner talk about many of the works and artists represented in a newly-hung exhibit. Mrs. Wharton, author of a book on contemporary Malaysian artists, relates her deep interest in art, the need for it in her family's environment, and plans for future shows. Dr. Clifton Wharton joins his wife and Professor Brauner for a portion of the program.
Some of the MSU artists whose works are seen include: Robert Alexander, Noah Alonso, Anthony DiBlasi, Roger Funk, Angelo Ippolito, Mel Leiserowitz, James McConnell, Jens Plum, Stacy Proffitt, Louis Raynor, Nancy Stackhouse, and Irving Taran. The film's score was composed by James Niblock.
WMSB produced the film in cooperation with the Michigan State University Development Fund for use on television and for showing to MSU alumni clubs across the country.
