A digitization from a 16mm silent color film reel. Footage from the last game of the 1969 Michigan State Spartan football season, against the Northwestern Wildcats at Dyche Stadium (now Ryan Field). MSU linebacker Brad McLee intercepted the ball and ran 39 yards for the first touchdown of the game. Jay Breslin also intercepted the ball, and made a 42 yard run for the Spartans' second touchdown. MSU's third touchdown was a 16 yard interception return by Rich Saul.
In the second half, MSU halfback Don Highsmith scored a touchdown from 12 yards on a pitchout, and defensive back Tom Kutschinski made a 48 yard punt return for another Spartan touchdown. Highsmith ran for 209 yards, the second best game rushing total in MSU history at that time. Final score: MSU 39, Northwestern 7.
