Luther Cobb first came to MSU in 1970 as an Alumni Distinguished Scholar recipient, majoring in chemistry. He was a member of the Debate Team and played intramural football, softball, basketball, table tennis, pool, bowling and soccer. As a member of the Outing Club, Cobb went rock climbing and spelunking. For two years he took piano lessons in the Music Department and performed in several recitals. During his last two years on campus, Cobb served as an RA in Holmes Hall, a position he found to be extremely positive. The research topic for his senior honors thesis was intellectual origins of special and general relativitiy. After receiving his undergraudate degree, Cobb transferred to Stanford where he earned his MD degree, specializing in surgery.
