Barnett "Barney" Rosenberg began at Michigan State University as an associate professor of biophysics in 1961. During his time at MSU, Rosenberg and colleagues Loretta Van Camp and Thomas Krigas developed the anti-cancer drug cisplatin. Rosenberg retired from MSU in 1997. Prior to his arrival at MSU, Rosenberg received his B.S. degree in physics from Brooklyn College in 1948 and master's and doctoral degrees in physics from New York University. Rosenberg died on August 8, 2009.
