Kathleen Large began working two half-time secretarial jobs at MSU in 1951 and then moved on to a position in Placement, assisting high school administrators who came to MSU to hire teachers.
Large worked for a time at the Kellogg Center, being promoted to manager of the conference desk prior to her transfer in 1960 to the Office of Admissions and Scholarships. In this position, she served as an administrative assistant to Gordon Sabine, the director of that unit. Her duties included working with students, parents, faculty, administrators and legislators as well as being a prominent member of a team that was responsible for the National Merit Scholarship program at the university.
Although she retired in the fall of 1991, Large was asked to come back to the campus in 1993 and work part-time for the MSU Museum.
